George is responsible for sales in southern South Carolina, Charleston, SC and the Savannah, Georgia market areas.
George Hiatt has been a fixture in the Lowcountry of South Carolina for over 25 years and has represented the Allen Organ Company during that time in a career of service to countless churches and individuals. At a very young age, George was fascinated with the pipe organ in his family’s church and was mentored by the gentleman tasked with repairing this organ, showing him how to perform simple service work. Through his drive and curiosity, he gained invaluable knowledge in this small western Kansas town that would later transform into a career. George is creative and thoughtful, aspects of his personality he uses every day in his pursuit of installing the finest digital organs in the world.
George earned his BFA from Kansas State University and his MFA from the University of Nebraska. While there, he undertook advanced organ studies with Dr. Mary Ellen Sutton and Dr. George Ritchie. Before joining Allen, his career was in the printing industry, earning top awards for his work. As an Allen representative, he has been named a Platinum Award recipient several times for his sales and service excellence.
George has a unique ability to listen and understand customer requirements. The result is an instrument and installation perfectly tailored to the customer’s needs and wants.
Whether creating a massive 4-manual 100-stop organ or the smallest 2-manual, George puts the same level of detail into every instrument he installs. His work has been described as “tidy, extremely well-voiced, and true works of art.” This workmanship is the result of years as a voracious reader, fascinated with the nuances of organ building, then applying those principles to the digital organ. Such attention to detail results in a crafted installation requiring time and care before he’s finally satisfied.
George is proud to bring his vast skills to the R A Daffer Organ Company as they begin their journey as one of the largest Allen dealerships in the country. Daffer will provide George unparalleled support as he continues his work of servicing South Carolina and Georgia clients with his incomparable work as a digital organ builder.
