Calvary Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, VA is seeking a part-time organist to accompany weekly Sunday morning service. This part-time position is approximately 8-10 hours per week under the direction of the Music Director.
Salary Range: $10,000 – $13,000 per year
Vacation: 4 paid Sunday’s off per year
Calvary Presbyterian Church proudly maintains a Hybrid Alborn-Galanti organ with 62 stops (plus 376 variable stops available), 12 ranks, 856 pipes, and 3 manual/full pedals.

Responsibilities:

Provide organ music for our traditional Sunday worship service.

Provide organ music for seasonal worship services such as Ash Wednesday Service, Holy Week Services, and Christmas Eve Service.

Accompany rehearsals for adult choirs, ensembles, and occasionally, other groups as needed.

Arrange for substitute organist, as required, in consultation with the Director of Music.

Schedule periodic maintenance and tuning of the pipe organ as needed in consultation with the Director of Music.

Provide Prelude and Postlude recommendations and discuss Hymn selections with the Director of Music weekly, in coordination with the Sermon topics.

Attend weekly worship planning meetings with the Director of Music and the Pastor (as needed).
Qualifications:

Ability to collaborate effectively with church staff and volunteers.

A strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Termination Policy:
-
There will be a 90-day probationary period where either party may terminate employment without cause. Beyond this a two-week notice is expected.

Dependability is essential. Tardiness and excessive absences will result in termination of employment.

Immediate termination will occur in cases of intentional verbal, physical, or emotional abuse of church members/families or visitors.

Termination may occur for failure to carry out job functions as described above or failure to comply with the Calvary Presbyterian Child Protection Policy.
