Oldest Church Building in Virginia Chooses Rodgers!

R. A. Daffer Church Organs has recently installed a Rodgers Imagine 359 Digital Organ featuring DS-Core technology and Mechanical Drawknobs in the oldest church building in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

St. Peter’s Parish Church (Episcopal), New Kent, was constructed in 1701-1703 and is considered “The First Church of the First Lady”.  Martha Dandridge, who would become the wife of George Washington, was the daughter of a Warden of St. Peter’s and attended this church when she lived in New Kent. The historical landmark continues as an active parish, and the music program is directed by Larry Heath. After considering many options, Larry confidently chose the Rodgers over other builders and assemblers of organs.

A dedication concert was held on November 2, 2025, which will be performed by Randy Sheets.

Thank you!

Dear Randy,

I would like to let you know how much your concert yesterday afternoon meant to St. Peters. It was fantastic. My family and friends who attended were delighted and amazed, as was I! We had no idea that an organ could sound like so many instruments. A veritable orchestra. The way you selected the music to highlight the range of capabilities of the organ was outstanding. The selections represented a fabulous cross section of genres and musical eras from the baroque era to modern times. We especially appreciated how you explained the musical selections and what we were about to hear so we could fully appreciate each set. As you played, I heard movie scores, I saw ballerinas dancing, I thought of the Phantom of the Opera. The mental image of an elf on a moonbeam will be with me perhaps forever!

Thank you so much for showing us how our new organ will enhance our worship, create a wider community, and bring joy to so many.
