Immanuel Lutheran Church, Easton, Maryland
Several years ago, Immanuel Lutheran's long time organist, Norleen Shelton
attended a workshop conducted by Mr. Richard Van Auken on a Rodgers 805 installed at St.
Philip's Episcopal Church in Laurel, DE. Subsequent to that workshop, she asked that
I visit her church in Easton and provide her with ideas about a new organ. This was
about five years ago. Norleen and her husband recently moved out of state to be
closer to family, however, the
project she started was finally realized this week with the installation of a
new Rodgers Trillium 837
two manual drawknob organ with MIDI.
This installation has an eight channel main organ audio speaker system with the
full range speakers being mounted on the front beam. In the balcony, where
the choir and organ console are located, an antiphonal speaker system has
been installed. Because of Rodgers' exclusive ability to have 4
different
digital audio maps available for the rear speakers, the antiphonal speaker
system will be able to provide four different functions. One function will
be to accompany the choir, another will be to provide a low level of full
organ during congregational singing, another will be just the Swell divisoin
to play against the Great and Pedal in the front of the church and the final
might be just the Festival Trumpet.
R. A. Daffer Church Organs, Inc. provided the complete installation of this
organ including the hoisting of the old Baldwin console down from the balcony
and hoisting of the new Rodgers model T837 into the balcony. All speakers were
mounted by our professional installation team.
I would like to thank the following committee members for their extensive
work in evaluating the Rodgers 837: Mr. Roger Schmick (Chairperson), Mrs. Linda
Brown, and Mr. Paul Nichols (organist).
